Annastasia Tennenbaum

Hi Everyone!

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Miss Annastasia Tennenbaum.

While on Orientation Island, I changed my hairstyle (shorter) , body type (shorter), eye color (green), and a few other things. Originally, I was trying to make her look like myself, but then I ran into one of my biggest frustrations with second life and that is that I couldn't (and still haven't) figured out how to change my hair color. If I put a new hair style on top of my current style, I can then change the color of the style on top, but the style underneath still shows it's original hair color which looks stupid. Therefore, I ended up changing her looks for no particular reason.

The location I chose to visit was the Second Life Campus of Ohio:

Some of my biggest challenges were:
  1. The whole hair style/color problem
  2. Even though I went through all four portions of Orientation Island, it only showed me as having completed 2 of them and the box up on the corner which was supposed to explain what to do wasn't updating properly all the time.
Overall, I found Second Life to be really overwhelming. The number of things to do, places to see, etc was pretty mind blowing, and I have to admit I found the idea of an entire virtual community a little disconcerting. The fact that people either pay actual money (or make their avatars go to work) for Lindon Dollars in order to spend them on a virtual meal in a virtual restaurant doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and the fact that I was also asked to go "clubbing" at some virtual club by some virtual guy just added to the strangeness factor.

However, I would assume that over time one would get over all of the above, and I think it could be really fun. I thought the art galleries were really neat (what a great idea for getting your work out there!) and I saw that an artist had actually held a live concert on Second Life in 2005 or something. I think it has some great marketing opportunities to offer.
